An incoming blast of arctic air and snow has local schools sending students home early. The news just out of the State College Area School District.

According to the SCASD website:

Because of intense weather conditions expected after 4 p.m. today, February 18, middle school and high school students will leave at 1:30 p.m. Elementary school dismissals will be as normal because their bus routes will be complete. All after-school student activities and the CEEL After-school Program are canceled.

According to AccuWeather.com, a snow squall is anticipated to hit the region late this afternoon and drop nearly an inch of snow in a short span of time. Squalls can be particularly dangerous because of reduced visibility, high winds and rapid accumulation on streets and other untreated roadways.

The good news for any job-seekers out there, the State High Project Information Fair will still be held at 6 p.m. at State High South.
