State College government was the victim of a cybersecurity attack on Wednesday.

The borough’s information security division “acted quickly to stop the attack,” borough officials said in a statement.

“While the attack has been stopped, it will take several days to review and recover,” according to the statement.

The State College Municipal Building and telephone lines remain, but because the attack affected the borough’s network, community members should expect delays in staff responses to emails.

Further information on the nature of the attack and whether any breaches occurred was not immediately made available. The borough said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
