Friday, Dec. 30

Movies

In ‘Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol,’ the IMF is shut down when it’s implicated in the bombing of the Kremlin. Ethan Hunt and his new team go rogue to clear their organization’s name. This movie is showing this weekend at the College 9 Theatre and the UEC 12 Theater.

In ‘War Horse,’ young Albert enlists to serve in World War I after his horse, Joey, is sold to the cavalry. This movie is playing this weekend at the College 9 Theatre.

In ‘The Skin I Live In,’ a plastic surgeon is haunted by past tragedies and creates synthetic skin that withstands any kind of damage. This film is showing at the State Theatre.

Bars and Clubs

The Autoport will host Bryan Grove at 8 p.m. Happy hour there is set for 5 to 7 p.m.

At Bar Bleu , happy hour will run from 9 to 11 p.m. 

The Down Under Steakhouse will host Pure Cane Sugar from 7 to 10 p.m.

And at the Gingerbread Man, DJ Boner will entertain starting at 10 p.m.

Community Events and Performing Arts

Biscuit Jam is scheduled to play the Bar in Boalsburg at 10 p.m.

Ice-sculpting, part of First Night State College, will be ongoing in downtown State College. Check this earlier news report for details and relevant links.

Sports

The Penn State women’s basketball team will play Nebraska at 7 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Saturday, Dec. 31

Community Events and Performing Arts

First Night State College festivities, including live music and ice-skating, are scheduled through much of the day. StateCollege.com’s First Night guide is available hereposted here.

‘Under Milk Wood,’ a play by Dylan Thomas, will be performed at 2 p.m. at the State Theatre. It’s to be a fundraiser for the facility.

Sunday, Jan. 1

Community Events and Performing Arts

Callanish and Mary Coogan and Bruce Foley are scheduled to play at 2 p.m. at the Center for Well-Being in Lemont.
