THON is more than 300 days away, but one local business is already in the FTK spirit.
State College’s two Jersey Mike’s locations — one on 128 S. Allen St. and the other at 2009 N. Atherton St. — donated 100 percent of their sales Wednesday (not just profits) to Four Diamonds as part of the national Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving.
The owners, Matt and Kristie Patterson, danced in THON themselves as students. Four Diamonds has been the beneficiary of their Month of Giving sales for all four and a half years they’ve owned the store.
“We are big THON supporters,” Matt Patterson said. “We have young children of our own, so the cause and its ties to our community is really close to us.”
The downtown Jersey Mike’s is open until 10 p.m. Since the Month of Giving idea began, Jersey Mike’s locations have raised more than $14 million for local charities.
