State College will ease street-parking rules from noon Tuesday through 2 a.m. Monday, thanks to the Thanksgiving holiday and the Penn State football game on Saturday, the borough announced.
The posted 2 a.m.-to-6 a.m. parking bans will not be enforced during the affected period. Likewise, posted two-hour parking limits in non-metered areas will not be enforced, either, and lawn parking will be allowed, according to the borough.
‘Visitors are encouraged to use the downtown parking garages at Beaver Avenue, Fraser Street or Pugh Street, which can be accessed 24 hours a day,’ the borough announcement reads. ‘If inclement weather is predicted (i.e., snow/ice), street parking will not be permitted.’
The borough noted that the parking department will continue to enforce other restrictions, including bans on parking on sidewalks, parking within intersections and parking on crosswalks. Motorists also are not allowed to park within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, within 30 feet of a stop sign or more than 12 inches from the curbs.
They’re not permitted to park against the flow of traffic or in front of driveways, either, the borough noted. And ‘parking meters on the streets are enforced from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and in the parking lots from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.,’ the borough announcement reads.
Anyone with questions may call the borough police department at (814) 234-7150.
