State College Spikes Announce High School Baseball Series for Medlar Field

Each of Centre County’s six high school baseball teams will play at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park this spring as part of the State College Spikes High School Baseball Series.

The series will consist of three games featuring a matchup of county high school teams. Each will be played following Penn State baseball games at Medlar Field.

On Saturday, April 14, Bald Eagle Area will play Penns Valley, following the Penn State-Ohio State game.

State College and Bellefonte will square off on Saturday, April 28 following the Penn State game against Northwestern.

Philipsburg-Osceola and Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy will round out the series on Saturday, May 5, after the Penn State-Michigan State game.

First pitch for each Penn State game is 2 p.m., with the high school games expected to start at 6 p.m. Fans who purchase a ticket for the Penn State game ($5 for adults, $3 for students and youth) will receive free admission to the following high school game. Penn State baseball tickets can be ordered in advance by calling (814) 272-1711, or by purchasing online.

Once the Penn State game ends, general admission tickets for each high school game will be available at the Medlar Field ticket office for $3 each. 

Last April, Bellefonte and State College met at Medlar Field, with the Red Raiders earning a walk-off, 7-6 win. Penns Valley and Saint Joe’s were scheduled to play at the stadium last May, but the game was canceled because of rain.
