Friday, July 29
When aliens arrive in Arizona in 1873, a posse of cowboys stands between the outsiders and their plans for world domination. That’s the plot in ‘Cowboys and Aliens,’ playing this weekend at the College 9 Theatre and the UEC 12 Theater.
At the Cinema 6 Discount Theater, ‘Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer’ is among the films playing this weekend. It’s about a third-grader who sets out to have the most thrilling summer of her life.
In downtown State College, the State Theatre is scheduled to show Friday the films ‘Annie Hall’ and ‘Time Flies Like An Arrow, Fruit Flies Like A Banana.’ For later in the weekend, showings of the documentary ‘Queen of the Sun’ are scheduled there.

Community Event
The Pleasant Gap Fire Company Carnival will continue Friday and Saturday in Pleasant Gap. Chicken barbecue will be available starting at 4 p.m. both days. Live entertainment is scheduled, as well.
Live Performances
In College Township, the Lemont Concert Series will continue at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by Jim Colbert and Cynthia Mazzant. The concerts are held on the Village Green.
In Boalsburg, State College Community Theatre will present the play ‘The Survivor’ at 8 p.m. at the Boal Barn Playhouse. The production is scheduled to continue through Saturday.
In downtown State College, the Penn State School of Theatre will present the opening night of ‘The Good Doctor’ at the Downtown Theatre Center, on the 100 block of South Allen Street. The production is scheduled to continue through Aug. 6.
Food
The State College Downtown Farmers Market continues on Locust Lane (across from the HUB lawn) between College Avenue and Beaver Avenue. The market is held Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Most of the fruits and vegetables sold are seasonal. Some of the vendors sell baked goods, canned goods and crafts all season long. All vendors produce or grow what they sell.

Bars and Clubs
The Autoport in State College will have happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. David Zentner will provide entertainment starting at 7:30 p.m.
At Bar Bleu in State College, happy hour will run from 9 to 11 p.m. Lowjack will play starting at 10:30 p.m.
In Toftrees, the Down Under Steakhouse will host the Sveltones starting at 8 p.m. and happy hour from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. And at the Gingerbread Man in State College, DJ Boner will entertain starting at 10 p.m.; happy hour will run from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Saturday, July 30
Community Event
The Last Cruise Car and Motorcycle Show is scheduled for 7 a.m. to noon at the Pennsylvania Military Museum grounds in Boalsburg. The 25th annual Last Cruise itself — with cars cruising in downtown State College — is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. in downtown State College. Sports
The State College Spikes will take on the Lowell Spinners at 7:05 p.m. at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Sunday, July 31
Live Music
South Hills School of Business and Technology will host the Swingin’ Dixie in the next concert of the school’s Music Picnic series.The picnic is scheduled to start at 5 p.m., with music to follow at 6 p.m. The gathering will be held on the school grounds on Waupelani Drive in State College.
John ‘JT’ Thompson, on piano, will play in Bellefonte’s Summer Sounds from the Gazebo series. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in Talleyrand Park, and is expected to feature blues, boogie and popular tunes. Organizers suggest that attendees bring lawn chairs or blankets.
At the State Theatre in State College, Dweezil Zappa will play a show called ‘Zappa Plays Zappa,’ featuring the work of Frank Zappa. It will begin at 7 p.m.
Sports
The State College Spikes will take on the Lowell Spinners again in a 6:05 p.m. game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
