Friday, June 24
Movies
‘Bad Teacher,’ a new comedy featuring Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake, opens this weekend and is playing locally at the College 9 Theatre and UEC 12 Theater. Centered on a foul-mouthed junior-high teacher played by Diaz, the movie follows a wooing attempt gone awry.
At the Cinema 6 Discount Theater, ‘The Lincoln Lawyer,’ starring Matthew McConaughey, is among the movies playing. It follows a lawyer who does business out of his Lincoln Town Car and represents a high-profile client in Beverly Hills.

Live Performances
In College Township, the Lemont Concert Series will continue at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by the Allegheny Ridgerunners. The concerts are held on the Village Green.
The ‘Music Nights at the Marsh’ series will continue with a 6:30 p.m. performance by the Tussey Mountain Moonshiners at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center.
The Penn State School of Theatre will present ‘Five Guys Named Moe,’ a musical that follows a man named Nomax after his girlfriend leaves him. The Friday show is scheduled for an 8 p.m. show at the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center on South Allen Street, State College. The production will conclude with a final production at 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Nittany Valley Symphony will perform a Sunset Family Pops Concert starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Tussey Mountain Amphitheater.
At the State Theatre in State College, Singing on Stage will present ‘Annie’ in a 7 p.m. performance. The production will return for a second show at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Food
The State College Downtown Farmers Market continues on Locust Lane (across from the HUB lawn) between College Avenue and Beaver Avenue. The market is held Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Most of the fruits and vegetables sold are seasonal. Some of the vendors sell baked goods, canned goods and crafts all season long. All vendors produce or grow what they sell.

Bars and Clubs
The Autoport in State College will have happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. Musician Dave Zenter will bring ‘My Kind of Country’ starting about 7 p.m.
At Bar Bleu in State College, happy hour will run from 9 to 11 p.m. Lowjack will play starting at 10:30 p.m.
In Toftrees, Rusty will play at Down Under Steakhouse starting at 8 p.m. And at the Gingerbread Man in State College, DJ Boner will entertain starting at 10 p.m.

Live Performances
Summer’s Best Music Fest will ring a day’s worth of live music to downtown State College. Put on by the Downtown State College Improvement District, the Fest features local and regional acts on three stages, plus a street bazaar and special offers at participating venues. Activities will start at 9 a.m. Complete details are available via this event page.
The Music at Penn’s Woods Festival Orchestra will play starting at 7:30 p.m. in Esber Recital Hall on Penn State’s University Park campus. A pre-concert talk is slated for 6:30 p.m. Ticket and other information is posted on this page.
Community Events
The seventh annual Touch-A-Truck event, sponsored by Centre Region Parks and Recreation and Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., will bring a variety of big trucks — dump trucks, fire trucks and other large-scale vehicles — to the driver-training lot at State College Area High School. This family-oriented event, to start at 1 p.m., will give attendees an up-close look at the vehicles.
Mount Nittany United Methodist Church will recreate a 1950s-style drive-in with burgers, fries, sundaes and root-beer floats. Its drive-in dinner will run from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church, 1500 E. Branch Road.
Special Event
The Paranormal Research Society has scheduled a number of seances for the evening. Tickets are limited. Details are available through this event page
Sunday, June 26
Live Music
South Hills School of Business and Technology will host the Nittany Knights in the fourth concert of the school’s Music Picnic series.The picnic is scheduled to start at 5 p.m., with music to follow at 6 p.m. The gathering will be held on the school grounds on Waupelani Drive in State College.
Ju-st Program, featuring oldies but goodies, will play in Bellefonte’s Summer Sounds from the Gazebo series. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in Talleyrand Park. Organizers suggest that attendees bring lawn chairs or blankets.
The Robert Cray Band will play the State Theatre at 7 p.m. Cray is a five-time Grammy Award winner; the group is known well as a blues band.
