Still Strong Foundation To Host Its First Event After Blue-White Game

Less than two months after giving an emotional speech during THON’s Pep Rally, Devon and Leah Still will return to Penn State.

Following the Blue and White game on April 16, the Still Strong Foundation will hold its first event at the Nittany Lion Inn. Former letterwinners Gerald Hodges, Derrick Williams, Tamba Hali, Jordan Norwood, Jack Crawford, and NaVorro Bowman will all be in attendance.

“We’re hearing from people all over who are going through obstacles in life and they’re just looking for a reason to stay strong,” Still said to Audrey Snyder of DKPittsburghSports.com.

Members of the community can buy tickets for the reception on the Still Strong Foundation website for $100, which includes entry into the event and a t-shirt sold by the Still Strong Foundation. It will take place from 6-8 p.m. on the day of the game. While you’re on the site’s store, you can also find “Always Strong” t-shirts, or pre-order “I Am Leah Strong,” the book that the daddy-daughter duo will try to complete by the end of the summer.

Still started the Still Strong Foundation after Leah’s battle against cancer. Because of all of the support he received along the way, he wanted to thank everyone that helped him out and pay it forward. On January 11, Still announced via Twitter that Leah is cancer-free.

The mission of the Still Strong Foundation is to help families with children going through treatment in a similar way that the Four Diamonds does. It supports families with children being treated at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Assistance can include anything from helping with rent and mortgages to childcare and travel expenses to and from the hospital.

Still is looking for more donors to partner with but has opportunities for anyone to help on the foundation’s website. There are many opportunities to donate monetarily, through in-kind donations or purchasing a shirt that will raise money and spread awareness.
