STATE COLLEGE — The State College Area School District’s Community Education Department will bring summer to the community weeks before spring arrives.
The department’s 14th annual Summer Youth Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday will pack Mount Nittany Middle School’s gym with representatives from 60 local organizations, making it the largest gathering of youth program providers in the area. Camps, music, dance, arts and crafts, martial arts, sports — several summers’ worth of fun will be available for registration on the spot, with something for everyone.
A fair guide by the Centre County Gazette is available online.
“It amazes me every year what there is to do around this area,” Community Education Coordinator Shannon Messick said.
The event is free, but concessions will be available for sale to benefit the State College Downtown Rotary Club.
February usually calls to mind candy hearts and chocolate, but Saturday will bring a taste of summer for dozens of area families. See what they have in mind for the warmer future.
The snow date is Sunday, Feb. 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. Details in case of a cancellation due to weather will be posted at www.scasd.org/CommunityEd.
