Temperature Roller Coaster Coming to State College

Thursday could be the warmest day in State College in over four months.

Accuweather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski says temperatures haven’t touched 60 degrees since late last November, but Thursday looks promising.

“It could break 60 degrees, but it’s going to be a tough battle with all the clouds around and frequent showers,” Sosnowski says.

Scattered showers are possible throughout the day Wednesday, which will carry over into Thursday. Between the two days, Sosnowski says we could see an inch of rain – not enough to be a real problem, but just enough that enjoying Thursday’s warmth could be difficult.

Even though Spring arrived in State College last week (complete with snowstorm), Sosnowski says those 60 degree temperatures won’t last. High temperatures on Friday are expected to sink into the 40s, which should fall even further into low 30s on Saturday.

And that’s not even the worst part: scattered snow showers are possible from Friday evening through Saturday.

“It looks like there’s a lot of ups and downs in temperatures for the next couple of weeks,” Sosnowski says. “…Until probably the middle of April, we’re probably going to have more days where temperatures average below normal than ones where they average above normal.”

Which begs the question, does anyone remember if the groundhog saw his shadow?
