The Pennsylvania State Senate last week confirmed two new appointments by Gov. Tom Wolf to the Penn State Board of Trustees.

Terry Pegula and Abe Amoros will replace Robert Capretto and Elliott Weinstein, whose terms expired this year.

A 1973 Penn State graduate with a degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering, Pegula and his wife, Kim, gave more than $100 million — the largest gift in school history — to construct Pegula Ice Arena and establish the Nittany Lion men’s and women’s varsity hockey programs. The founder and former CEO of natural gas drilling company East Resources, Pegula is now owner of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and NFL’s Buffalo Bills.

Amoros, of Harrisburg, is the Pennsylvania legislative director the Laborers’ International Union of North America. He received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Penn State in 1990 and also has a master’s degree in governmental administration degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
