FRIDAY
Baseball Championships
The Bellefonte Area High School baseball team will play for the program’s first PIAA state championship when the Red Raiders face Susquehanna Township for the Class AAA title at 1:30 p.m. at Medlar Field. The game was postponed from Thursday due to weather. The Class A championship between Meyersdale and Vincentian Academy will start at 11 a.m.
Culinary Week
The Fourth Annual Happy Valley Culinary Week continues through the weekend. In addition to special menus at many local restaurants, Webster’s Bookstore Cafe will host vegan cooking demonstrations at noon Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Kitchen Kaboodle will have kitchen gadget demos throughout the day Friday and Saturday. The State Theatre presents the movie “Chef” at 3 p.m. Friday. More Culinary Week details.
Bellefonte Cruise
The Bellefonte tradition returns for a 28th year. It’s a car, truck and motorcycle show and much, much more in downtown Bellefonte. Open Cruise on Friday night at 6 is followed by the sock hop at 7:30 p.m. Live music, food and more on Friday and Saturday. Check out the lineup.
CelticFest
CelticFest returns to the rolling green hills of Tussey Mountain, featuring authentic food and drink, celtic dancers, bagpipers, Irish rockers and highland games. The festival is 5:30-10 p.m. and tickets are available in advance or at the gate. Details.
Celtic Woman
It’s an Irish evening in Happy Valley. Multi-platinum Irish music sensation Celtic Woman presents Destiny, an enchanting new show and world concert tour, at 7:30 p.m. at Penn State’s Eisenhower Auditorium. The Destiny Tour features an entirely new production with many songs from the forthcoming Destiny CD and DVD. Ticket info.
Concert on the Village Green
The weekly free Friday summer concerts at Lemont Village Green continue with guitar and vocal duo Steve Van Hook and Jim Colbert playing folk Americana from 7:30-9 p.m.
Twelve Angry Men
Nittany Theatre at the Barn’s Summer Stock Season continues with the classic Broadway courtroom drama “Twelve Angry Men.” The production, directed by Darcy Evans, begins at 7:30 p.m. Shows run through June 25. Tickets
The Drowsy Chaperone
State College Community Theatre brings the Tony Award-winning musical comedy “The Drowsy Chaperone,” to The State Theatre, in downtown State College. The show will run June 16-19 with performances at 8 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. More info.
SATURDAY
Scopex Stamp Show
The annual show devoted to stamp collecting features 14 dealers, exhibits, special show souvenir cover honoring the 100th anniversary of the Boal Troop, which fought in World War I. US Postal products available Saturday. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Presented by Mount Nittany Philatelic Society at the American Philatelic Society in Bellefonte .
Father’s Day Storytime
To honor dads, grandpas and caregivers, we the Barnes & Noble on Benner Pike will have a reading of two charming books, “Dad School” and Grandpa Loves You!” starting at 11 a.m. Activities to follow.
Saturday Stories Alive
Join Schlow Library for a half-hour of stories, fingerplays, and a hands-on activity to take home, starting at 11 a.m. in the Children’s Activity Room. Recommended for ages 2-7.
Bilingual Reading Corner
Barnes & Noble on Benner Pike will offer German Storytime as part of Bilingualism Matters at Penn State’s Bilingual Reading Corner event. The storytime session begins at 11:30 a.m. will be led by Isabel Deibel and Ben Schloss.
50 Cent Pool Days
This Father’s Day weekend, cool off with a hot deal at the Park Forest and Welch Community Pools when admission is only 50 cents on Saturday and Sunday. General swim is noon-8 p.m. both days.
Touch a Truck
Bring the kids out for an exciting afternoon of big trucks, dump trucks fire trucks, mowing tractors, backhoes and more starting at 1 p.m. at the Mount Nittany Middle School parking lot. It’s a hands-on experience for the entire family. Attendees are encouraged to bring earplugs. To better accommodate children who are sensory sensitive, the equipment operators will be encouraged to disable the vehicle horns from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Presented by Centre Region Parks and Rec.
Spikes Return
The State College Spikes are back in action for another summer at Medlar Field. First pitch for the home opener is set for 7:05 p.m. Check out all that’s in store for the opening four-game homestand and what’s new at the park for this season here.
Music at Penn’s Woods
Featuring pieces by Copland, Mendelsshon and Bizet, Music at Penn’s Woods continues its summer performance series with a 7:30 p.m. show at Penn State’s Esber Recital Hall. Details.

South Hills Picnic Concert
The weekly summer outdoor music series at South Hills School of Business North Lawn continues with the Deacons of Dixieland’s unique style of fun, happy, feel-good Dixieland music. Bring your picnic starting at 5, and music starts at 6.
Summer Sounds
Summer Sounds from The Gazebo in Talleyrand Park are a staple in the Bellefonte summer activity menu, with nine free concerts every Sunday from June to August. This week Urban Fusion takes the stage at 7 p.m.
