June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month and on the summer solstice ‘The Longest Day’ events are held around the world as fundraisers for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Juniper Village at Brookline’s Wellspring Memory Care will mark the occasion with a daylong event filled with music, food, art, fitness and fun.
The Longest Day Jamboree will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at Wellspring Memory Care, 610 W. Whitehall Road.
Proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
Events include yoga on the front lawn and tie-dye lessons at 9 a.m.; Meditation in Motion and tricycle drag race at 11 a.m.; and starting at 1:30 p.m., Pound and Pour, a miniature horse petting zoo, face painting, wacky hair station and yard games.
Happy Hour with the Brush Mountain Band will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring Freas Farm Winery, Seven Mountains Winery and local beers. Food during happy hour will include $3 assorted grilled chicken kabobs, $1 fruit kabobs, $1 chips or pretzels and $1 soda, tea or water.
Grab-and-go breakfast will be available from 7:30 to 9 a.m., with $5 breakfast sandwich and coffee.
A hot dog bar lunch also will be offered. Hot dogs with all the fixings are $5, with $1 chips/pretzels and $1 soda/tea/water.
