THON Child To Perform Live Tuesday On Fox Program; New Details Released

Tucker Haas, the 9-year-old cancer survivor whose ‘Boom Boom Pow’ rendition electrified THON this year, is scheduled to appear Tuesday on ‘Fox & Friends.’

Fox News Channel, which runs the national program, confirmed Haas’ appearance today. He is expected to perform ‘Boom Boom Pow,’ a Black Eyed Peas song, live about 8:50 a.m. before fielding a few questions from the program’s hosts. The time is subject to change.

Haas’ appearance has been in the works about two weeks, said THON Overall Public Relations Chairperson Jony Rommel. She said a Penn State student who’s interning at Fox suggested the idea to producers at the news network.

‘Tucker loves to perform,’ Rommel said. She said Haas’ family and some Penn State members of the fraternity Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and the sorority Zeta Tau Alpha will accompany him at Fox’s New York studios.

His performance will take place in the Fox facility on the Avenue of the Americas, where Haas’ image will be projected on giants television sets outside the building, Rommel said. She said the News Corporation-owned network is paying for Haas and his family to spend a couple days in the city.

Haas, of York, gained notoriety in February when he performed ‘Boom Boom Pow’ at Penn State’s Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, known as THON. The event, billed as the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, raises money for pediatric-cancer research and treatment. It draws thousands of visitors every year to the Bryce Jordan Center.
