Uber and Penn State are teaming up for what they say will offer fans a convenient transportation option before and after Nittany Lion home football games.

As part of a four-year exclusive partnership that will designate Uber as ‘the official rideshare partner of Penn State Athletics,’ Uber will establish designated pick-up and drop-off zones outside of Beaver Stadium. The areas will be marked by custom signage.

The zones will be integrated into the Uber app and riders and drivers will get precise directions on where to meet.

‘Teaming up with Penn State Athletics will help ensure that everyone in State College traveling on game day can get an affordable, reliable and safe ride,’ said Sarfraz Maredia, Uber’s regional general manager for the Northeast U.S., in a news release. ‘Together, we’ll focus on optimizing the traffic flow at large events and finding new ways to engage with the broader Penn State community.’

The service will begin with Saturday’s Blue-White Game.

A drop-off zone will be located just south of the Bryce Jordan Center. The pick-up zone will begin starting at halftime on Hastings Road, near the outdoor track.

Riders are encouraged to ask their drivers to follow the in-app navigation and signage to the drop-off area. After leaving the game, riders can enter their destinations and follow directions to the pick-up zone.

Since the area around the stadium is likely to be crowded riders should use the app to call or text their drivers if they have trouble finding them, and they should confirm they’re getting into the right car by checking the license plate number and driver’s name.

As part of the partnership, Uber will promote Penn State athletic events to riders and signage around Penn State venues will encourage fans to use Uber.

Uber is offering riders their first ride for free, up to $15, by using the code PSU15 when they sign up.
