If you plan on attending events at Beaver Stadium or the Bryce Jordan Center this weekend, there are some important security changes to take note of.

In light of the terrorist attacks in Paris last week, the university announced additional security screening on campus for the upcoming weekend.

“While there are currently no known threats against collegiate stadiums, according to the Department of Homeland Security, University leaders have opted to increase security measures this weekend for the safety of the public, at both the Bryce Jordan Center and Beaver Stadium,” a press release said.

For starters, the university is recommending that fans not bring bags to the venues, and added that any bags that do meet the university’s bag policy are still subject to search.

There will be additional security at the Shinedown concert on Friday night, and ticket-holders are being urged to arrive earlier than the 6 p.m. door opening to ensure entrance goes smoothly. There will be pat-downs at all four gates for the 7 p.m. concert, and backpacks/large bags are not permitted inside the arena.

“We greatly value our fans, teams and stadium personnel and the visiting team and fans, and for their safety we are enhancing security operations over the weekend for these venues,” Penn State associate athletic director Mark Bodenschatz said. “We have a comprehensive security plan in place and we work closely at every game with federal, state and local law enforcement to provide a safe experience for our fans.”

“While we know this may be an inconvenience for some, we ask for everyone’s patience so that we can get fans into the stadium in time for the Senior Day ceremonies and the noon kick,” he added. “The safety and security of our community is our No. 1 priority, and everyone’s help is needed.”

Penn State vs. Michigan — Saturday at Beaver Stadium:

For Saturday’s Senior Day game, the final home game of the football season for Penn State, there’s a laundry list of security measures to be aware of before heading over to Beaver Stadium.

The university is asking fans to arrive and enter the stadium a half hour earlier than usual to account for the increased security, which will lengthen the entrance process and likely cause longer lines.

“Everyone entering the stadium will be required to open their coats and outerwear,” the university said. “A pat-down by trained male and female security professionals will occur in separate lines at entry points, including the employee entrance.”

Unless you’re authorized because of a medical need to have a bag, all other patrons are being encouraged to leave bags at home or in a car. Clear, one gallon plastic bags are permitted instead the stadium, as are wristlets no larger than 4″ x 6″ 1″.

If you notice suspicious activity or activities out of the ordinary at any event, the university asks that you immediately call 911 or University Police at 814-863-1111, or text Nittany to 69050.
