Verizon to Offer Enhanced Coverage at the Grange Fair

Verizon Wireless has installed a temporary repeater — called a ROW, or Repeater On Wheels — near Grange Park in Centre Hall for the Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair.

For the duration of the fair, from Thursday to Aug. 30, the ROW will provide additional network coverage and capacity in anticipation of visitors expected to set up camp for more than a week.

According to a Verizon Wireless press release, service enhancement means: More customers camping at the site can use their cell phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive emails, texts, picture and video messages, access the Internet, view high-quality videos and download apps and music, games and ringtones all while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

‘Ensuring our customers can count on their wireless devices for communication, news and more at major events, like the Grange Fair, is part of our ongoing commitment to network reliability,’ said Mark Frazier – president of the Verizon Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia Region. ‘We look at how our customers’ usage patterns are changing at events like these and utilize this information to make sure we stay well ahead of their demand.’

Nationally, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $70 billion since its beginning — $6 billion on average every year — to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services, according to the press release.
