An e-mail blast went out from Centre Wildlife Care’s Robyn Graboski on Tuesday asking for people to help find a missing dog.
Megan Holmes — the owner of the seven-year-old, 55-pound golden retriever named Skye — said that her dog went missing at 9:30 p.m. Monday at the Arboretum.
‘We will happily offer a reward for her safe return,’ Holmes wrote. ‘We searched for her last night and today for hours and have contacted everyone we can think of.’
Skye was thankfully rescued on Wednesday after being found in a 15-feet-deep sinkhole at the Arboretum, just off of Park Avenue on campus.
Alpha Fire Company’s assistant chief Dennis Harris was sent down into the hole, where he rigged up Skye in a dog harness and helped the pooch out. Skye emerged from the sinkhole a little dirty, but immediately began wagging her tail and running around, happy to be reunited with her owner.
