Strategies for Justice will host its inaugural symposium bringing law enforcement and social justice advocates together from Thursday through Saturday online.
SFJ founder and State College resident Terry Watson said the symposium will focus on two steps that are necessary for change.
“We want to help participants recognize the trauma that’s occurred between certain communities and law enforcement,” he said. “That will happen through learning, engaging and building a pathway toward healing. The second step is the develop practices inside and outside of law enforcement to create change.”
The symposium, themed “Change Isn’t Easy, But It’s Necessary,” will bring law enforcement, academia, trauma experts and social justice advocates together to participate in meaningful conversations.
Guest speakers, panel discussions and workshops will help participants understand what conscious law enforcement means and how to effect change through inclusive practices.
