The Blue Books are closed and the campus is quieting. Penn State’s Finals Week is over, and many students have left State College.

There’s still plenty of activity downtown, however. For more events throughout the week, check the StateCollege.com Newsletter or sign up here to receive it every week.

For the Family:

It’s the nicest day of the weekend, so take advantage of the warm temperatures by taking a hike up Mt. Nittany. The conservancy’s website describes this weekend as ‘an ideal time’ for a visit. Azaleas and orchids are returning, and May is usually the return time for migratory birds.

We’re out of the sweltering heat, but it’s not too cold to try out a new flavor at the Penn State Creamery. Teaberry was recently introduced, so get your cone today.

At the Stadium:

Penn State baseball takes on Iowa in a televised Big Ten match-up at 7 p.m.

The Penn State Open has been rescheduled to today, and the runners take off starting at 4 p.m.

At the Theatre:

Tonight, The State Theatre is showing the 2010 Fly Fishing Film Tour. ‘We will take you on the journey to see what it takes to be truly committed, or insane, by those who capture the new revolution of fly fishing adventures on film.’ Tickets to the 7 p.m. show are $10.

The highly-anticipated Iron Man 2 comes to the big screen in State College today. There are 20 show times today at College 9 and Premiere.

Late Night:

It’s Friday night, and Indigo is the place to be! The late Happy Hour (10 p.m.-midnight) means you can enjoy great specials all night.

Now that the Cinco de Mayo crowd has left, Mad Mex will return to normal, which means good drink specials from 9 p.m.-midnight.
