The Whitehall Road widening project has caused frequent traffic delays in recent weeks, but it should be smooth sailing on Memorial Day — construction crews will be taking the day off.
It will be back to normal on Tuesday. PennDot is reminding area drivers that flaggers will be directing traffic again, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Next week, workers will be installing piping between Waupelani Drive and Campbell Road. They’ll also be building traffic signal foundations at Research Drive, Blue Course Drive, and Waupelani Drive.
PennDOT says drivers using Whitehall Road should be cautious and courteous. The agency is asking that you share the road with bicyclists and be on the lookout for pedestrians.
A large number of improvements are being made, including roadway-widening, the addition of a center left turn lane, new marked bicycle lanes, new traffic signals, drainage upgrades and roadway paving.
The $10.3 million project is scheduled for completion by mid-November.
