Who’s Open, Closed for State Patty’s Day 2012? Bars, Restaurants Set Their Plans

UPDATE @ 1:36 p.m. Feb. 24: It’s worth noting that, generally speaking, restaurants outside the immediate downtown-State College area do not appear to be adjusting their hours for State Patty’s Day.

Exceptions to that trend — the ones that StateCollege.com is aware of, at least — are noted below.

We also should note that the four state-owned wine-and-liquor stores in the State College area have agreed to close at 6 p.m. Saturday, three hours earlier than usual.

Downtown-State College bars, restaurants and bottle shops in growing numbers have adjusted their operating hours for State Patty’s Day.

Many announced they will close entirely for the sixth annual unsanctioned drinking holiday, set for Saturday; others are set to close early. Some establishments plan to follow their regular hours.

Below is an establishment-by-establishment listing of details that StateCollege.com has collected so far. It is not all-encompassing, and it will be updated.

• Adam’s Apple and the Tavern, 220 E. College Ave.: Adam’s Apple closed; Tavern open regular hours for lunch and dinner, but with alcohol service available only to lunch and dinner customers.

• Allen Street Grill, 100 W. College Ave.: Closing at 10 p.m.; alcohol service available only to customers who are dining.

• Atherton Hotel, 125 S. Atherton St: No alcohol service. (No alcohol service Sunday, either.)

• Bar Bleu, 114 S. Garner St.: Closed.

• Beer Belly’s, 258 W. Hamilton Ave.: Open 9 a.m. to noon.

• Bill Pickle’s Tap Room, 106 S. Allen St.: Closing at 6 p.m.

• Brewery, 233 E. Beaver Ave.: Details not yet confirmed.

• Brewsky’s Bottle Shop, 222 W. Beaver Ave.: Closing early; exact time to be determined.

• Brewsky’s Bottle Shop, 240 S. Pugh St.: Open 1 to 6 p.m.

• Cafe 210 West, 210 W. College Ave.: Open regular hours.

• Chili’s, 139 S. Allen St.: Open 11 a.m. to midnight.

• Chumleys, 108 W. College Ave.: Closed.

• Corner Room, 100 W. College Ave.: Open; no alcohol service.

• Darkhorse Tavern, 128 E. College Ave.: Open regular hours.

• Deli, 113 Heister St.: Open; no alcohol service.

• Home Delivery Pizza Pub, 1820 S. Atherton St.: Closing early; hour not immediately clear.
  

• Inferno Brick Oven and Bar, 340 E. College Ave.: Closed.

• Jack’s 6-Pack Bottle Shop, 1669 N. Atherton St.: Tentatively expected to be open.

• Kildare’s Irish Pub, 538 E. College Ave.: Closing at 6 p.m.

• Lion’s Den, 118 S. Garner St.: Closed.

• Mad Mex, 240 S. Pugh St.: Open regular hours.

• Nittany Beverage Co. beer distributor, 139 N. Patterson St.: Closed.

• Phyrst, 111 E. Beaver Ave.: Details not yet confirmed.

• Pletcher’s Beer Distributor, 330 W. Aaron Drive: Details not yet announced.

• Rathskeller, 108 S. Pugh St: Open with a $5 cover charge and at two-thirds of its normal capacity; no beer pitchers or shots.

• Rotelli, 250 E. Calder Way: Food service available until 10 p.m.; no liquor service; beer service planned, but hours to be determined.

• Saloon, 101 Heister St.: Closed.

• Shandygaff, 212 E. Calder Way: Closed.

• Sharkies and Sharkies’ bottle shop, 110 Sowers St.: Closed.

• W.R. Hickey Beer Distributor, 1321 E. College Ave.: Closing at 2 p.m. or earlier.

• Zeno’s, 100 W. College Ave.: Closing at 6 p.m.

• Zeno’s To Go, 100 W. College Ave.: Closed.

• Zola New World Bistro, 324 W. College Ave.: Open regular hours.
