One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in State College, according to borough police.
The driver, who police described as a female State College resident and the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at Mount Nittany Medical Center shortly after the crash near the intersection of South Allen Street and Easterly Parkway.
Video footage showed the woman traveling northbound on South Allen Street at a high rate of speed then entering the intersection using the westbound turn lane and continuing north on Allen at about 11:13 a.m., police wrote in a release.
The vehicle then went off the left side of the road, narrowly missing a pedestrian and a southbound vehicle.
After continuing across a lawn, the vehicle struck a cement retaining wall on Sunrise Terrace, went airborne and landed on its roof, police wrote.
The driver was unresponsive when police arrived on the scene, and Alpha Fire Department and Centre Life Link EMS responded to extricate her from the vehicle.
Emergency personnel performed life-saving measures before the woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Her name is being withheld pending family notification, police said. No other injuries were reported.
