Drivers can expect lane closures and delays beginning next week as work begins for long-planned turning lanes along Valley Vista Drive in Patton Township.
Starting Monday, contractor HRI Inc. will begin utility relocation needed for the project.
Left turn lanes will be constructed at Amblewood Way, Oakley Drive, Sandy Ridge Road and Devonshire Drive. According to the township, updates about future work on the project will be released in the coming weeks.
Last summer, Ferguson Township constructed a left turn lane at Valley Vista Drive and Bachman Lane.
Plans for the turning lanes date back to a transportation study begun in 2009. The intersections where the turning lanes are being constructed see traffic backups during busy times, but do not meet the warrants for traffic signals.
Patton Township received an $800,000 PennDOT grant for the project. Work was expected to begin in the fall of 2017 but was delayed when the need for utility relocation was determined.
