Penn State is getting active in the transfer portal.

The Nittany Lions on Sunday afternoon earned a commitment from point guard Jay Rodgers, who spent the previous four seasons at Central Connecticut State after one with the University of New Orleans. Rodgers was unranked both as a recruit and as a transfer but brings a wealth of experience.

Through 79 career games, including 59 as a starter, Rodgers averaged 8.3 points, 3.7 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game. Though he missed the 2024-25 campaign with injury, the 2025-26 season was his most productive, with 11 points, 6.9 assists and 2.2 boards per contest.

Rodgers is listed at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds and brings one year of eligibility to State College. He joins returner Reggie Grodin as the only other guard on the team, adding much-needed depth at the position. With several key players departing through the portal, the Nittany Lions will look to add more depth via transfers this offseason.
