Penn State Men’s Basketball Adds Transfer Guard Thomas Allard

Penn State men’s basketball has added much-needed depth at guard.

The Nittany Lions on Wednesday afternoon earned a commitment from transfer Thomas Allard, who spent the 2025-26 season with Division II University of Alabama Huntsville (UAH). Prior to that, he spent three seasons playing for Lincoln Memorial University (LMU), also a DII program.

In his lone season with the UAH Chargers, Allard averaged 13.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists while starting in 32 of 33 games. The team finished 23-10, with Allard leading in both minutes and assists.

With the LMU Railsplitters, Allard redshirted his first season before developing into a role player. He totaled 18 starts and 41 appearances, averaging 7.1 points, 4.6 boards and 2 assists per contest.

He brings one season of eligibility to Penn State, where he’ll compete with transfer guards Jay Rodgers (Central Connecticut) and Roberts Blums (Davidson) and returner Reggie Grodin for minutes.

With only four guard spots taken on next year’s roster, head coach Mike Rhoades and Co. will likely look to add more depth at the position via the portal before the season starts.
