Saša Ciani is looking for his fourth school in four years.
On Tuesday morning — the final day of the portal window — Sam Kayser reported Ciani is transferring, making him the ninth Nittany Lion men’s basketball player to do so. He joins Kayden Mingo, Freddie Dilione V, Eli Rice, Dominick Stewart, Melih Tunca, Mason Blackwood, Justin Houser and Tibor Mirtič.
The loss of Ciani likely won’t make a major impact, as he posted just 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds while averaging 10 minutes per game. Despite mainly shooting from the paint, the forward connected on just 38.9% of shots last season, his worst performance in three collegiate seasons, all at different schools.
Prior to becoming a Nittany Lion, Ciani had one-year stints with Xavier (2023-24) and University of Illinois Chicago (2024-25). With the Flames, Ciani started 21 games and averaged 9.9 points and 7.6 rebounds, albeit against a weaker strength of schedule.
Set to enter his senior year, Ciani wasn’t expected to be a main contributor for Penn State and will likely land at a smaller program.
