Penn State and Michigan won’t be receiving prime-time treatment this season.
The Nittany Lions’ battle against the Wolverines on Oct. 17 will kick off at 3:30 p.m. EDT, the Big Ten announced on Monday afternoon. What was once thought to be a premier matchup between major brands will be played in the afternoon window, with the network still to be determined after this week’s games.
No other Big Ten matchup is currently slated for the 3:30 window, but the times for Nebraska-Oregon and Wisconsin-UCLA haven’t been announced, with networks still working to determine which matchups will garner the most eyeballs. So far this season, only one Big Ten matchup has aired during the 3:30 window per week, and that game has been on CBS each time, but networks can occasionally flex or trade windows.
The network will be revealed next Sunday or Monday following Penn State’s White Out against USC and Michigan’s bye week.
It’ll be the Nittany Lions’ second appearance during the middle slate, with the season-opener against Marshall also being a 3:30 kickoff.
