Penn State football safety King Mack is entering the transfer portal, according to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
A rising sophomore, Mack appeared in all 13 games last season as a true freshman. He was primarily used on special teams but registered three total tackles and a quarterback hurry.
The 5-foot-10, 187-pounder from Miami, Florida, was a four-star recruit in high school, according to 247Sports. The St. Thomas Aquinas product was listed as 247Sports’ No. 86-ranked player nationally, the No. 18-ranked player in Florida, and the No. 6 safety in the Class of 2023.
Although Mack was unlikely to start over Jaylen Reed and Kevin Winston Jr., he had a clear path to playing time in 2025. His next landing spot is uncertain, but he was heavily recruited by other Big Ten schools including Iowa, Maryland and Michigan State.
