After a victory on the field Saturday afternoon at Beaver Stadium, James Franklin’s recruiting picked up a win in the evening, as well.

Three-star defensive back Zion Tracy announced on Saturday night that he has committed to Penn State, picking the Nittany Lions over Rutgers, Syracuse and Buffalo.

Tracy plays high school football on the north shore of Long Island, New York, at Long Island Lutheran High School. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound back is rated as the sixth-best New York prospect and the No. 100-ranked cornerback in the 2023 class, according to 247Sports

Tracy announced his top four schools on Sept. 6, but only a day after his September 9 visit to Penn State, he announced his commitment to join the Nittany Lions via Twitter

He is the 20th player to pledge to Penn State in the 2023 class, where he joins three-star Lamont Payne as the second defensive back to commit. 247Sports currently has Penn State’s 2023 recruiting class at No. 12 in the nation, the second highest ranking of any Big Ten team, behind Ohio State.
