Penn State, Michigan Release Initial Availability Reports

Penn State has some new additions to its availability report.

The Nittany Lions on Wednesday night released their first Big Ten-mandated update on player status ahead of Saturday’s matchup against Michigan, including some notable and unexpected names. Among them were running back Carson Hansen, defensive end Yvan Kemajou, cornerback Josiah Zayas and defensive tackle Armstrong Nnodim listed as “probable.” Losing any of those players would be significant for Penn State, which is already dealing with depth issues at the midpoint of the campaign.

Additionally, linebacker Cam Smith was listed as questionable after missing time with injury. He hasn’t seen a snap since the season-opener, but head coach Matt Campbell said he returned to practice this week. Kicker Christiano Rosa, who’s missed the past few games, is also questionable to return.

Out for the Nittany Lions are wide receiver Koby Howard, defensive ends LaVar Arrington II, Max Granville, Mason Robinson and Dayshaun Burnett, cornerbacks Joshua Johnson, Christian Askew and Tyler Armstead, linebacker Alex Tatsch, offensive lineman Will Tompkins, tight end Cooper Alexander and defensive tackle Liam Andrews. Campbell confirmed Wednesday morning Tatsch is out for the season, joining Granville and Tompkins.

For the Wolverines, five players are out, including wide receiver Braydon Alford, running back Micah Ka’apana, defensive end Julius Holly and offensive linemen Ace Hamilton and Andrew Sprague. Wide receiver Kendrick Bell is listed as doubtful.

Michigan’s depth will be tested further on the questionable list, which features six players: defensive ends Dom Nichols and John Henry Daley, linebacker Aisea Moa, and offensive linemen Jake Guarnera, Andrew Babalola and Brady Norton. Additionally, wide receiver Andrew Marsh and offensive lineman Nathan Efobi are listed as probable to suit up.
