Penn State continued its climb up the rankings following the conclusion of nonconference play.
The Nittany Lions elevated one spot to No. 13 in Sunday’s AP Top 25 poll, continuing an upward trend. They began the preseason at No. 18 before jumping to No. 16 and No. 14 in the last couple weeks.
Penn State passed Texas A&M, which lost 31-21 to Kentucky on Saturday and went tumbling 14 spots down the poll. The Nittany Lions remain the fourth-highest ranked Big Ten team, trailing only No. 5 Indiana, No. 7 Ohio State and No. 12 USC. Other conference teams in the rankings include No. 17 Iowa, No. 18 Michigan and No. 20 Oregon. Washington leads all “others receiving votes” teams, while UCLA and Nebraska also got votes. Penn State has upcoming matchups against the Trojans on Oct. 10 and the Wolverines on Oct. 17.
