As Penn State inches closer to a potential College Football Playoff berth and a first-round game at Beaver Stadium, the window for student ticket sales has officially opened. Student tickets will cost $28, and students are limited to one request each, according to a release sent by the university on Thursday.
Making a request does not guarantee a ticket, and the timing of when the request is made does not impact whether a student will receive a ticket. Student tickets are also non-transferable and cannot be resold, per the release.
Requests can be made until 5 p.m. on Nov. 29 and students will be notified between Dec. 2 and Dec. 6 if they were selected through a lottery process. Students will only be charged if they are selected to receive tickets.
If the Nittany Lions are to win their two remaining regular season games against Minnesota this Saturday and Maryland on Nov. 30, that would likely guarantee a home playoff game, which would either be played at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 20 or at noon, 4 p.m. or 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 21.
Penn State will conclude its fall semester on Dec. 20, but keep its university dorms open until 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, Dec. 22.
The university already opened a window on Nov. 13 for season ticket holders to reserve seats. That opportunity will conclude at 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday.
According to The Athletic, the College Football Playoff has set a flat range of ticket prices regardless of which site hosts a game. Tickets will reportedly cost $100 to $250 for general seating. All ticket revenue will be retained by the playoff and redistributed to the conferences.
The Nittany Lions are currently ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff ranking and, if the season ended prior to this weekend, would likely host No. 10 Georgia in the first round, according to ESPN’s projected bracket.
