The accolades keep coming for Penn State safety Kevin Winston Jr. after a dominating performance at West Virginia. On Tuesday, Winston was named the Chuck Bedarnik Player of the Week, awarded weekly to the nation’s best defensive player.

He was also tabbed the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Winston’s national recognition comes after tying a career-high with 12 tackles against the Mountaineers, a game in which he also forced a fumble and tallied a tackle for loss.

Winston could enter the NFL Draft next spring, and if he does, he’s expected to be among the first safeties selected.

This preseason, Winston was named a team captain, signaling his impact both on and off the field for the Nittany Lions.
