Penn State’s Saturday performance didn’t move the needle.
The Nittany Lions remained at No. 2 in this week’s AP Top 25 poll released on Sunday, the same position they’ve held since the preseason.
Though Penn State came away with a 34-0 win thanks to some late explosives, their performance on Saturday left much to be desired. The offense struggled to generate rushing yards and failed two fourth-down conversions in the first half as the team mounted just a 10-0 lead at the break.
The voters chose to leave Penn State at No. 2, though the Nittany Lions are down to five first-place votes after garnering seven last week.
Penn State is now slated for a top-five matchup when Oregon visits on Sept. 27 for the White Out, as the Ducks jumped up to No. 4 after a dominant win over Oklahoma State.
The Nittany Lions will also face No. 1 Ohio State — which received 57 of 65 first-place votes — in Columbus on Nov. 1.
Indiana marks the third and final ranked opponent on Penn State’s schedule, sitting at No. 22. The Hoosiers will travel to Happy Valley the following week on Nov. 8. Nebraska, which will visit on Nov. 22, received 10 votes, good for No. 35 overall.
