This weekend’s 2021 Big Ten Wrestling Championships at the Bryce Jordan Center will host “limited player guests” in the stands, Penn State wrestling announced Tuesday afternoon.
Following Governor Tom Wolf’s decision on Monday to ease statewide event capacity restrictions, an unidentified number of guests, presumably participants’ family and friends, will be allowed during the event that is set to take place on Saturday and Sunday.
While player guests will be permitted, no tickets will be sold to the general public for the event.
The Nittany Lions enter the championships with a 6-0 record this year, including a dominant 44-0 win over Maryland in the regular-season finale.
This is the first time Penn State is hosting the Big Ten Wrestling Championships since 2009, making it the first time it’s hosting during Cael Sanderson’s tenure as head coach. The event is set to kick off at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Jordan Center.
The Big Ten Network will broadcast session one on Saturday morning, the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and the championship finals at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
