For the first time since 2019, Penn State wrestling is No. 1 in the country in both the NWCA’s Coaches Poll and InterMat rankings.

Now 10-0 on the season, Penn State overtook Iowa for the number one spot. The Nittany Lions’ jump in rankings comes after the team added two-time All-American Drew Hildebrandt to the lineup and defeated Indiana and Maryland this past weekend to open the Big Ten schedule.

Penn State is not the only Big Ten team to claim a spot in the top 10 of the NWCA’s poll. Iowa sits at No. 2, while Michigan remains at No. 3. Ohio State and Wisconsin are not far behind at No. 7 and No. 10, respectively.

As for InterMat‘s rankings, Penn State stands at No. 1 in the Tournament Power Index and Dual Meet rankings. Additionally, wrestlers Carter Starocci, Roman Bravo-Young, Aaron Brooks, and Nick Lee lead their respective weight classes.

Penn State’s season continues with a matchup against No. 16 Rutgers (11-1) on Sunday. The action from Rec Hall will kick off at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU
