State Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Rush Township, will seek reelection in 2024 for a 10th term representing the 77th House District, he announced on Wednesday.

“I have always strived to be a servant leader for working families and all people I’ve represented in my years of public service,” Conklin said in a statement. “In Harrisburg, I will continue fighting for working families, women’s rights, environmental protections, public education funding and equitable treatment of all Pennsylvanians under the law.”

The 77th District includes part of State College, and all of Philipsburg and Port Matilda boroughs and Ferguson, Halfmoon, Huston, Patton, Rush, Taylor and Worth townships.

Before his first election to the state House in 2006, Conklin served as a Centre County commissioner for seven years and owned a carpentry business. He and his wife own Conklin’s Corner Antique Mall in Philipsburg.

Conklin, who most recently defeated Republican challenger Steven Yetsko in 2022, currently chairs the House State Government Committee.

Centre County Controller Jason Moser and Centre County Treasurer Colleen Kennedy are co-chairing Conklin’s reelection campaign.

“Scott has fought time and again for Centre County residents and all Pennsylvanians,” they wrote in a joint statement. “He has advocated for his constituents, stood up for workers and defended democracy in our beloved Commonwealth. We are fortunate to have such a fierce and devoted public servant in Centre County and look forward to ensuring he continues the work he truly loves.”

Conklin, who is treasurer of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, also noted a raft of endorsements from state and local elected Democrats, including House Speaker Joanna McClinton and state Sen. Sharif Street, who chairs the state party.

“Scott’s devotion to serving his constituents and delivering results for the 77th district remains unwavering,” McClinton said in a statement. “As the House State Government Committee Chair, Scott has led the charge in defending our democracy and expanding access to the ballot box. I rely on his senior leadership and will count on it in this most critical year.”
