Penn State men’s basketball got some good news on Wednesday afternoon as the final 247Sports Top 150 for the 2022 recruiting class was released, showcasing three incoming Nittany Lions.

Among the future Nittany Lions set to head to campus this summer are the trio of forward Evan Mahaffey and guards Jameel Brown and Kanye Clary who made the cut among the Top 150 players in the nation for the 2022 cycle according to the site.

Mahaffey comes in at No. 117 following the latest update but is rated a three-star prospect by the 247 Composite Rankings which accounts for other recruiting sites. Jameel Brown – a former Purdue verbal commitment – is rated No. 139 while Clary rounds out the group at No. 143.

Brown and Clary are both rated three-star prospects on all recruiting sites while Mahaffey comes in as a four-star prospect according to the 247 Network’s own site rankings. All three fall short of Penn State’s all-time highest prospect in Philadelphia guard Tony Carr who was rated the No. 51 overall prospect by the same network.

Outside of the Top 150 Penn State is set to welcome two more freshmen this summer in center Kebba Njie and fellow big man Demetrius Lilley who hails from Lower Merion high school, the former high school of NBA great Kobe Bryant.

Penn State coach Micah Shrewsberry has also been busy in the transfer portal in addition to the recruiting trail picking up the services of now former Bucknell guard Andrew Funk and Drexel guard Camren Wynter.

Bellefonte native and Duke freshman Derek Lively II dropped one spot in the final rankings to No. 2 overall in the nation. Penn State made Lively’s final few schools before the Centre County product eventually ended up at Duke.

Penn State’s massive 2022 freshman class is rated No. 25 in the nation overall by the 247 Network’s Composite rankings.
