Penn State’s Eisenhower Deck remained closed on Thursday after a sinkhole opened on Wednesday near the front of the structure on the University Park campus.
The Eisenhower Deck is used by faculty and staff and wasn’t directly part of student move-in, which is underway. But the closure has caused some ripple effects.
According to Penn State Transportation Services, Yellow F and S permit holders are directed to park in the West Deck until further notice and take the Red Link and Campus Shuttle to central campus.
West Deck student permit sales for long-term storage parking, which were scheduled to begin Wednesday, have been put on hold indefinitely while the garage is used as alternate parking for Eisenhower permit holders. Off-campus students who need overnight storage parking can purchase a permit for Lot 43, with the option to return it for a prorated refund and purchase a West Deck permit, should they go on sale at a later date.
Permit holders from other areas of campus who were allowed to park in the Eisenhower Deck this week because of student arrival parking closure are authorized to park in the Nittany Deck through Friday.
People whose vehicles were inside the Eisenhower Deck when it was closed on Wednesday were able to retrieve them with the guidance of transportation services and police. Anyone still parked there should return to remove their vehicle as soon as possible, according to transportation services.
The Transportation Services Office, which is located inside the Eisenhower Deck, was closed on Thursday, but staff were working from other locations and available to answer phone calls at (814) 865-1436 and emails.
Penn State University Police and Public Safety, which is also headquartered at the Eisenhower Deck, is temporarily located at the police station located at Gate B at Beaver Stadium until further notice and can be reached at (814) 863-1111.
