Soccer around Centre County is heating up. Bellefonte leads the Mountain League. Bald Eagle Area and Philipsburg-Osceola are in the upper-middle of the pack, followed by Penns Valley just above the basement.
BALD EAGLE AREA
Two Eagles scored two goals in Bald Eagle Area’s 4-0 rout of Central on Sept. 12. Freshman Carter Stere and senior Nicholas Zink were the two to find the net. Stere added an assist, while senior Anton Fatula accounted for two.
Junior goalkeeper Conner Robinson made three saves in the shutout win.
Bald Eagle was visited by Tyrone on Sept. 18. The score was not announced until after the Gazette went to press.
BEA meets Centre County rivals Philipsburg-Osceola at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. The last time Bald Eagle Area took on a fellow Centre County opponent was Sept. 4, when it lost to Bellefonte 4-2.
The Bald Eagles have a two-match away trip in Centre County, starting Monday, Sept. 24, at Penns Valley at 6 p.m., followed by Bellefonte two days later. Kickoff for the Bellefonte rematch is set for 6 p.m.
BELLEFONTE
Due to weather, the Red Raiders only had one game, against Tyrone. Bellefonte won, 4-0.
Evan Nyquist had a hat trick, scoring three goals in the match, while Gabe Koller added one of his own. Bellefonte goalkeeper Zack Speary made seven saves to earn the clean sheet.

The Red Raiders head to Huntingdon on Thursday, Sept. 20, to take on the Bearcats at 6 p.m. Two days later, Bellefonte is on the road again, headed to Mill Hall to take on Central Mountain at 11:30 a.m.
Bellefonte is back in town Monday, Sept. 24, to take on in-county rivals Philipsburg-Osceola at 6 p.m.
PENNS VALLEY
The Rams fell to Huntingdon on Sept. 12 in double-overtime, 2-1.
Bearcats senior Camden Knode scored both the opening goal and the game-winner. Junior goalkeeper Isaac Snare made 13 saves to keep his team in the game.
The Rams took on P-O on Sept. 18, with the score not announced until after the Gazette press time.
Penns Valley is back in Spring Mills on Thursday, Sept. 20, to face off with Clearfield at 4 p.m. After a quiet weekend, the Rams kick off the new week against Bald Eagle Area on Monday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m.
PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA
The Mounties took to Clearfield on Sept. 12 and failed to complete a late-game push, falling 2-1.
Clearfield junior Hugh Brickley opened the scoring by converting a penalty shot in the first half. In the second half, Clearfield increased its lead when sophomore Nicholas Ryan headed a free kick from junior Andrew Lopez into the back of the net.
P-O’s sophomore striker Caleb Pellerite took freshman Ashton Crownover’s throw in and weaved his way to goal before halving the deficit. The Mounties didn’t manage an equalizer.
Philipsburg-Osceola took on PV on Sept. 18. The score was not announced until after Gazette press time.
The Mounties start a three-game road trip in Wingate on Thursday, Sept. 20, taking on Bald Eagle Area at 6 p.m. They then head to Bellefonte on Monday, Sept. 24, for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
STATE COLLEGE
The Little Lions stood undefeated heading into Sept. 18’s game against Central Dauphin.
State High defeated Cedar Cliff on Sept. 13, 2-0, with goals scored by Garrett Callenberger and Ben Vollmer.
Two days later, State College took down a previously undefeated Lewisburg team, 1-0, off a goal scored by Alex Mikula.
On Sept. 18, State High fell to Central Dauphin 1-0. The Rams scored in the first half and never looked back.
The Little Lions start a two-game road trip in Chambersburg on Thursday, Sept. 20, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 22, State High travels to Carlisle for a noon game.
