Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Land Recruit, Per Reports

As Bill O’Brien looks to continue the turnaround on the field, O’Brien and his staff picked up an added boost off the field as Lynchburg, Va. offensive lineman Tanner Hartman verbally committed to the Nittany Lions Tuesday night.

Lions247 originally reported the commitment and several other 2013 verbal commits such as tight end Adam Breneman and quarterback Christian Hackenberg offered their support to the latest Nittany Lion on Twitter.

‘Welcome to the PSU family Tanner Hartman!’ Breneman and Hackenberg both said.

The 6-foot-4, 225 pound Hartman was originally a Maryland commit but had been interested in the Nittany Lions before the then-commitment of Belle Vernon, Pa., star Dorian Johnson.

Following Johnson’s departure from the Nittany Lions’ 2013 class, it opened the door for Hartman to consider Penn State again.

A three-star recruit on 247sports, Hartman had offers from Maryland, Temple, Liberty and Richmond.

Hartman puts Penn State’s 2013 recruiting class just one commitment shy of a dozen players and with Penn State’s uncertain future, it is a gesture Bill O’Brien and Penn State fans will not soon forget.
