Penn State’s University Park campus and all Centre County school districts will be closed on Monday because of the major winter storm blanketing the area.
The university has canceled classes, activity and most work from 5 a.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday. Only employees designated as performing essential services should report during that time.
In-person class instructors may offer asynchronous, such as a recorded lecture students can watch at another time or reading assignments, but cannot meet remotely. Web-only classes will be held as planned.
State College, Bellefonte and Philipsburg-Osceola school districts are closed with no classes. Penns Valley buildings will be closed and students will have a flexible instruction day. Bald Eagle Area already had no classes scheduled for an in-service day on Monday.
About a foot of snow had accumulated by Sunday afternoon around Centre County with the storm expected to continue into the evening hours. A winter storm warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. Monday.
