A tornado with estimated peak winds of 110 mph touched down in northern Centre County on Sunday night, the National Weather Service at State College confirmed.
The EF1 tornado started at 7:31 p.m. about 2 miles south of Pine Glen near and along State Route 879, the NWS wrote in a public information statement. It traveled 1.16 miles southeast with a maximum width of 120 yards for about four minutes before lifting.
It resulted in damaged trees, downed wires and part of a roof blown off a home to the south of town. No injuries were reported.

NWS State College staff teams surveyed areas of enhanced damage on Monday and along with Pine Glen confirmed three other tornadoes: an EF0 in Homer Township, Potter County; an EF1 in Grand Valley, Warren County; and an EF1 near Kirkwood, Lancaster County. On the Enhanced Fujita Scale for classifying tornadoes, EF0 has three-second gusts of 65 to 85 mph and EF1 has gusts of 86 to 110 mph.
“Thank you to the Pine Glen Fire Company for their assistance in navigating the team, providing locations of damage to document, and transportation to damage sites,” the NWS wrote.
Storm surveys are ongoing in parts of York County. NWS Pittsburgh also confirmed EF0 and EF1 tornadoes touched down on Sunday in Butler County
The Pine Glen tornado was the first confirmed in Centre County since 2023, when an EF1 touched down near Zion.
