Centre County Adds 50 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 3,028

Centre County reported 50 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to bring its total to 13,050, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 3,028 positives, bringing its total to 941,439.

The county also had 106 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 61,608. Across Pennsylvania there were 8,736 new negatives for a total of 3,915,271.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 211.

With 50 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide Pennsylvania’s total is now 24,219.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is currently treating 17 COVID-19 inpatients, five more than on Wednesday. The patients range in age from 24 to 84, according to a hospital spokesperson.

COVID-19 hospitalizations statewide continue to decline. Across Pennsylvania on Thursday, 1,628 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 350 in intensive care and 177 on ventilators.

Nursing and personal care homes in Centre County reported three new COVID-19 case among residents and one among employees. A total of 18 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 712 resident cases, 148 employee cases and 161 resident deaths.

An estimated 91% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

A total of 26,950 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 12,732 who are fully covered with both required doses, according to health department data.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 808,788 are confirmed and 132,651 are probable. In Centre County, 11,984 are confirmed and 1,066 are probable.
