Centre County YMCA to Host Food Distribution in Penns Valley

The YMCA of Centre County’s Anti-Hunger Program will host its next Farmers to Families food distribution on Wednesday afternoon in Spring Mills.

The drive-through event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at Penns Valley Area High School, 4545 Penns Valley Road. Vehicles are not permitted on the school property until buses have departed.

Each box of free food contains fresh meat, cheese, fruit, milk and more.

No registration is required.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers to Families program purchases food from farmers across the country who are struggling to sell what they produce during the COVID-19 pandemic and makes it available to be distributed for free.

YMCA of Centre County’s food service distribution partner, Sysco, was awarded Farmers to Families assorted grocery kits for distribution across Pennsylvania. Through the program, the YMCA’s Anti-Hunger Program has been able to provide free groceries to thousands of families in its service area.
