Albert L. Nichols, 76, of Bellefonte, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on May 21, 1949, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Steve and Mary (Dean) Nichols. On September 10, 1974, he married Gayle E. McClellan. Gayle passed away on April 10, 2026.
Albert graduated from Bellefonte Area High School. He we a underground foreman at Graymont in Pleasant Gap for many years before his retirement.
Albert was a simple man, enjoying life’s simple pleasures. He was a member of Copperhead Camp and looked forward to time spent there. He liked hunting, fishing, and working on home projects. He has a passion for drawing and painting nature scenes. He also enjoyed writing poetry and sharing those with his family and friends.
Albert is survived by four children: Gene Ripka and his wife Annette, of Pine Glen, Scott Ripka of Bellefonte, Robert Cain of Bellefonte, and Rose Hoover of Bellefonte; grandson, Cody Ripka and his wife, Roelyn, of Ebensburg, and one great grandson, Weston Ripka.
Along with his parents and wife, Albert was preceded in death by one sone, Terry Ripka and three siblings: Steve, Mary, and Patricia.
In accordance with his wishes, all services will be private.
