Althea J. Cowher (Grieb), 73, of Woodward, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Born on September 15, 1952, in Lock Haven, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Margaret Irene (Miller) Grieb. On February 7, 1970, she married the love of her life, Douglas E. Cowher, who preceded her in death on July 24, 2018.
Althea worked at Bierly’s Butcher Shop, packaging meat and helping in any way she could for more than 30 years. She was still employed with them, and she enjoyed going to work and interacting with the various people that would come in.
Althea loved to sit and watch her tv shows and movies and couldn’t resist a good pimple popping video on Tik Tok. She was a determined and strong-willed woman. Although she was small in stature, she was larger than life. She was sassy and had an amazing sense of humor. She enjoyed quiet time at home and loved her family more than anything in this world.
Althea is survived by her daughter, Bobbie J. Lamey and her husband, John, of Jersey Shore; five grandchildren, Samantha Cowher, Hali Frigo (Cyle), Dalton Zerbe (Kylie), Braydon Cowher (Faith Fultz), and Payton Cowher; one great grandson, Colton Cowher and two great grandchildren on the way; three brothers, Dan, Mark, and Jerry Greib; one sister, Edie Kinghorn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Althea was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Cowher, Jr and sister, Nancy Immel.
Following Althea’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. She and her husband will be laid to rest privately next to their son, Dougie, at the Woodward Cemetery.
