Bernard Ellsworth Kitt, Jr., 74, of State College, PA, died Friday, May 8, 2026.
Born September 20, 1951 in Altoona, PA, he was the son of the late Bernard Ellsworth Kitt and Mary Jane Zangrilli. He married Mary Jayne (MJ) Coon on February 21, 1987. She survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sibling, Bonnie (Kitt) Schorner of Longwood, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara (Kitt) White.
Bernard was a graduate of Altoona High School and served in the US Air Force. He and his wife owned Ellsworth’s Restaurant in Altoona, PA. Later, Bernard owned and operated Kitt Accounting and Tax Service in Bellefonte, PA, retiring in 2014.
Bernie played clarinet with the State College Municipal Band and the Bellefonte Community Band for many years. He and his wife have been avid campers and enjoyed kayaking, biking, and cross-country skiing. He was a member of State College Presbyterian Church.
Memorial visitation will be from 2-4pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Reverend Scott Hoffman will share a brief tribute to Bernard to conclude the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the State College Municipal Band or the Bellefonte Community Band.
